A Day Trip Guide to go eat TUNA at Misaki
If you are done with major day trip destinations around Tokyo, how about checking more off the beaten path destination by a day trip. If you take the train for an hour from Tokyo, you can see a different side of Japan.
Today, let’s go to Misaki to eat tuna what called “Maguro” in Japanese, using special TUNA Ticket.
Misaki is located at the southern tip of Miura Peninsula, below Yokohama in the map.
It takes about 1 hour by Keikyu line from Shinagawa station in Tokyo, but train runs every 10 minutes, so you don’t need much preparation in advance and you can even decide in the morning to go.

TICKET to Get
On the way to Shinagawa station, I purchased this “Misaki Maguro Day Trip Ticket” offered by Keikyu Railway.
This includes round-trip train fare, unlimited bus rides in Misaki, a tuna meal, and one activity ticket. I bought it on a travel agency site Klook for 3950 yen (This is not a sponsored) as it’s a little bit discounted than getting at the train staiotn.
There are digital tickets which can be a little more cheaper depending on the date, but they require a Japanese phone number and as my phone reception was weak at the edge of the peninsula, I’m glad I got the paper tickets. Keikyu also recommends Klook for international visitors

At Shinagawa Station 🚃
Receive Vochure at Shinagawa Station
At Shinagawa Station in Tokyo, you can show your QR code from Klook to the station counter, and receive vochures for the trip. The station counter is located at Takanawa exit of Shinagawa station.
Keikyu is a different rail company from JR, but it has direct entrance from JR line’s platform. But to redeem this ticket, you cannot enter from this gate. You can go down the stairs to Takanawa exit, and go to station office.
You cannot receive the vochure at the JR direct gate.
You can show your QR code from your reservation page (easeir if you have Klook app) to the station staff. You receive three tickets. All are important so please keep safe in your wallet, but you use one of them soon.
A is the round-trip train tickets and also a bus pass at Misaki. You use this until you come back to Tokyo this evening, so please make sure you have it all the time.
B is the tuna voucher that you can exchange with lunch.
C is the activity voucher that you can exchange with certain activities or gifts.
You only need to put Ticket A through the automatic ticket gate and get on the next train going to Miura peninsula.
Make sure you Do NOT take the train to Haneda Airport
Now let’s go up to the platform. The train you want to take is Limited Express “特急 or 快特” to Misaki Guchi(三崎口) or Keikyu Kurihama(京急久里浜). It runs every 10 minutes in day time.
Keikyu is also an airport access to Haneda (HND) airport and it leaves from the same platform, but you cannot take the one to the airport or local train.
If you take the one to the airport, you end up losing lots of time so that’s the only thing to be noted.
On Keikyu, some trains have two doors and all seats are facing front, but some trains are just looks like a commuter train. No matter which car comes, there is no additional cost for this line, except the night time Wing.
Decide what to eat and do on the way
During the one hour ride, you can enjoy scenery and decide which restaurant to go to and what to do.
At the moment, most of the guides are in Japanese, so it might be a little difficult but there is a QR code for the link to English website on the brochure they give you.
Some restaurants are located near Miura Kaigan Station. Today I’m heading to the last stop, Misakiguchi.
So from here, we all have the same tickets, but people spread to the different stations and restaurants.
Misakiguchi station.
From Misakiguchi Station, you can take Keikyu Bus to Misaki port or Jogashima from Bus terminal 2. The bus fare is included in ticket A and you can get on and off as many times as you like in this Misaki and Miura Kaigan area.
First, I took a bus to the last stop Jogashima. You get on the bus from behind, and you can just show the date of the ticket A to the bus driver when you get off.
Time for MAGURO
You can choose from many restaurants in Misaki Port and Miura Kaigan for tuna meals, and you’ll get a set just by handing over your Ticket B.
You’ll be surprised at how many tuna restaurants there are in this small town at the tip of a Miura peninsula.
The restaurant I was looking for was only 1 minute walk from Jogashima bus stop. I headed to a restaurant called ”Hamadaya” written 濱田屋 in Japanese.
I handed vochure B at the counter, and waited at the seat.
Some restaurants allow you to choose, but most restaurants have a special meal for this specific coupons which is easier. You can order drinks and foods with additional cost. I was called and went to get my tuna.
This was my second time using this ticket, but it seems that the menu varies greatly depending on the restaurant. Last time, I ate sushi at a different restaurant, but this restaurant was much better. In my opinion, in Misaki, it’s better to eat something with tuna as the main dish.
ACTIVITY
With the activity ticket, I returned to Misaki Port by bus and boarded a boat called “Nijiiro Sakana-go”. I exchanged the Ticket C to the actual ticket.
This is the boat allows you to see underwater. It was about 30 minutes ride, and it was so much more fun than I expected. If I didn’t have this Misaki Maguro ticket by Keikyu, I would never have gotten on it. Personally, I really enjoyed feeding bird.
You can use this ticket for eating sweets at coffee shops, renting a bicycle for a day, or take bath at one of the hotel in Miura Kaigan too.
The port town of Misaki and Jogashima
Before or after, there is a building called “URARI” that you can purchase lots of tuna and seafood related products. You can use restrooms too.
After that, I walked around the Misaki port and Jogashima. Near the Misaki port, if you walk up the little street, there is a Kainan Shrine. It is said the place has a good energy that you get power and become a lucky person. There are several temples and shrines around here that you can stroll around.
There were a lot of cats in Jogashima. It was a mid summer and the bush was too tall for the view, but when i came here in winter, it had better view further to Mt.Fuji. So for hiking around the island, it might be better from Autumn to Spring.
After thoughts
The Misaki Maguro Ticket offers excellent value, covering transportation and a delicious tuna lunch. Although Misaki is not as famous as other destinations, this ticket introduces you to the quieter, less crowded spots of the Miura Peninsula, which even many Japanese tourists overlook. I first used this ticket nine years ago, and it remains a hidden gem today among international visitors.
The Miura Peninsula is a beautiful area to explore, especially the west side, which offers stunning views of Mt. Fuji on clear winter days. While you can take a Keikyu bus from Misakiguchi Station to explore Hayama and Kamakura, these are not included with this ticket.
Misaki Port may not have the full of tourist attractions of Kamakura, but its quiet charm is perfect for those seeking a relaxing escape. It’s a place where you can enjoy a slower pace and create memorable moments away from the crowds.
